2027 Black Women in Food Summit Volunteer Planning Committee

In preparation for the 2027 Black Women in Food Summit, tentatively taking place April 22–24, 2027, in Washington, DC, we are seeking Volunteer Planning Committee Members to support the planning and execution of this multi-day event.

The Summit Committee is a group of volunteer leaders who provide focused leadership and support across key areas of the Summit. This is a volunteer role; however, committee members will receive an honorarium at the conclusion of their service in recognition of their time and expertise.

Committee members are expected to actively participate throughout their designated service period, lead and/or support their assigned areas of work, and contribute to the successful delivery of the three-day Summit.

Available Volunteer Committee Roles

Marketing & Media Lead: Develops and executes an advertising and marketing plan designed to reach priority audiences, build awareness, and drive Summit registration and engagement. Service Period: January–April 2027

Experiential Lead: Leads the planning, coordination, and execution of the Summit’s attendee experiences, activations, and community moments across all three days.
Service Period: November 2026–April 2027

Marketplace Lead: Leads the planning and execution of the Summit Marketplace, from vendor selection and onboarding through on-site activation and breakdown.
Service Period: January–April 2027

Stage Management Lead: Leads stage execution and backstage coordination across all three days of Summit programming, ensuring each session, transition, and stage experience runs smoothly and on schedule. Service Period: March–April 2027

Requirements & Expectations

  • Must be 21 years or older

  • Must be able to work virtually

  • Must be able to lead and/or support a team of volunteers and interns

  • Must be able to commit to the designated service period for the selected role

  • Must be available to support on-site execution in Washington, DC, during the Summit, April 22–24, 2027
